Milrem Robotics, a foremost developer in robotics and autonomous systems, has formally entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with EM&E Group, a distinguished defence technology provider, and Thales in Belgium, a subsidiary of a global leader in defence, aerospace, and cybersecurity. This strategic alliance seeks to enhance commercial collaboration in the United Arab Emirates.

The MoU establishes a comprehensive framework focused on joint innovation and the integration of robotics capabilities. A principal objective of this partnership is the seamless integration of EM&E Group’s SECUTOR Remote Weapon Station with Thales in Belgium’s 70mm rocket systems into Milrem Robotics’ THeMIS modular unmanned ground vehicle. This amalgamation is anticipated to enhance the operational capabilities of the platform, rendering it more versatile and effectively aligned with the specific defence requirements of the UAE, particularly in the context of counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS).

The integrated system is scheduled for presentation by the EDGE Group at the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) 2025, which is set to take place in Abu Dhabi from February 17 to February 21.

Moreover, the agreement delineates potential opportunities for additional collaborative development projects that will harness the expertise of all three parties to promote advanced defence solutions.

Kuldar Väärsi, the Chief Executive Officer of Milrem Robotics, articulated, “Milrem Robotics, EM&E Group, and Thales in Belgium collectively envision leveraging our combined technological strengths to address the evolving demands for robotic systems and to create efficient defence capabilities. Through this partnership, we aspire to drive innovation, bolster regional security, and contribute to the enhancement of the UAE’s defence and technological capacities.”

Alain Quevrin, the Chief Executive Officer of Thales in Belgium, remarked, “We are pleased to embark on this strategic partnership, which amalgamates our state-of-the-art technologies to fulfil defence requirements in an increasingly dynamic landscape. This collaboration embodies our shared commitment to advancing security and technological excellence, in accordance with the UAE's vision for innovation in defence.”

Javier Escribano, the President of EM&E Group, stated, “It is a privilege to engage in this strategic initiative, which will consolidate the capabilities and technologies essential for the development of an advanced system such as the SECUTOR Rocket. This agreement signifies our collective commitment to addressing the needs of the continuously evolving defence sector.”
